As promised, part one of my review of 'The Lie' by Ken Ham.
The book sets out its stall straight away. Evolution, perhaps in league with gravity, is responsible for all the evil in the world. Evil includes homosexuality, so if you are a homosexual, no matter how nice you treat people, no matter how much you give to charity, no matter even if you are a Christian; You are EVIL! But at least you can blame it on evolution.
Remember those halcyon days when there was no…

Even by the standards of Ken Ham and the Answers in Genesis mob, Bodie Hodge is a mad man.
Read this http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/2013/02/22/misunderstanding-god and you'll understand why I say this. Quite apart from his usual pathetic attack on atheists (we're just chemicals, you know), it at least reveals the nature of the God he (or they) have invented Here are some of the…

Mr Ken Ha, BSc (possibly Hons) accuses Professor Lawrence Krauss of knowing nothing about science. “This is yet another example of a university professor who just does not fully understand science…”

Creationists demand that evolutionary science be subject to the most rigorous scientific tests. I would like to offer the following challenges to creation scientists. Conduct these experiments according to the scientific method i.e every step and observation/result must be recorded and must be repeatable:
1. Construct a room that is entirely enclosed so that it is perfectly dark. Without using any tools or instruments, create light.
2. Take a region of empty space. Using only…

Ruth Anthony-Gardner said… Welcome, Dave! Glad you could join us. :D Isn't your description somewhat self-contradictory?
Please consider joining a group to meet people and talk about anything that's on your mind, Hang With Friends. You might also like Are You Experienced?.
I also recommend Eco-Logical and Climate Concerns, since the climate is changing so drastically.
After you've searched for topics of interest in "Groups" above and in the "Forums", don't forget to look at recent activity which hides along the right margin of the page all the way at the bottom.
On a personal note, I've developed an animated gif technique, sort of “pull quote marries slideshow”. Samples are scattered across various groups, but you can find them easily by going to my twitter account. Each tweet has a link (after the description and before the hashtags) to a visually rich example here at Atheist Nexus. If you like them, please follow me

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film. The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons. He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"! .
No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes. 'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands. Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day. however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more. in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.
I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).
THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…
