My summer reading began with yard sale book by Matt Ridley called, "Genome"...and it was excellent! That lead me to do some intenet searching and I found him talking on several sites about Rational Optimism. He is well worth looking into and fun to listen to...Life is not as bad as Fox makes it sound!

I finally got the Netflix movie, "Atlas Shrugged: Part 1" and watched it this weekend. Both hubby and I got tears in our eyes from the subject matter and the ideas of Ayn Rand's Objectivism. It stayed very close to the book, but it will come out in 3 parts with the next one due out in October. A pain full wait is ahead of us and anyone else who loves this story. Well worth seeing for all ages and mind sets. We loved it!…

I do not usually share dumb Facebook stuff, but this just killed me...Some of the worst music album covers that you will ever see and most of them are religious in nature. Try to brace yourself first...these are bad!

Greetings, I just finished reading, "God, No! Signs You May Already Be an Atheist and Other Magical Tales." It was a well written and rollicking ride by famous magician, Penn Jillette.
Penn takes you through his life stories and the 10 commandments of his life. It made me jealous that I was not a fly on the wall for most of it...but he does a great job of making you believe that you could have been there. He has made sure that Christmas and flying in an airplane will never be the same…

My husband, formerly a psychologist, says Myers Briggs is out of favor now. He doesn't respect it.
I am also INTJ -- there is a group here for us on the site.

Ruth Anthony-Gardner said… Thanks for the link. It was all interesting. You've just shared a lot about yourself. If the constellation of traits matches your self-perception, I don't see that Meyers Briggs being out of favor makes any difference.

Syd J said… Hi Suzi, I immediately recognised your piece "The Jester". I live in Australia but was travelling through Minnesota a few years ago and was impressed at the way the City of Bemidji had activated the city centre using public art and streetscaping. I use a photo of "The Jester" in presentations I give here in Australia on the value of public art in placemaking for towns and cities.

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film. The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons. He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"! .
No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes. 'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands. Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day. however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more. in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.
I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).
THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…
