Calvin commented on Titi's blog post Why I'm an Atheist
"Howzit Titi, really great story. I grew up non-religious too, I remember when I was about 5 and I saw some movie on TV where some kids were praying to God for something, so I asked my Dad if he prayed to God, he said “no we’re Buddhist,…"

I live in a really good part of NC that is really a diverse city, but we are in the middle of the bible belt and it sux. But we love it here and I teach my son and also try to allow him to make his own decisions as he gets older. "christian nation" the most ridiculous statement. if people would only understand that we were founded on secularism not Christianity.

Thanks! It was a bit of a transition, I was MEDEVAC'd home half-way, but I'm doing fine and planning my reenlistment.

I was at Camp Taji, north of BIAP. I had some friends at Liberty and thereabouts. Yeah, I'm alright. I got my clean bill of health this past week! So exciting. I plan to reenlist for Italy when my window opens in July. So you're AF? What you do?

All is well in Downtown Honolulu. Still trying to get a detailed handle on this social network. For all its intended evil purposes, I still use Facebook much more frequently, mainly to keep up with friends and post pictures.

I agree about facebook and its too many apps. A bit of a chaotic mess to be honest.

It's good to know there's at least 7 of us here in Hawaii. Did you by any chance want to be admin to the hawaii atheists page? I honestly don't have as much time as I should to fix it up and get it to look nice. As you may have noticed, I haphazardly slapped on a geological map of HI with a tongue-in-cheek shark bite out of the fish.

Pay no attention to all the photo uploads and deletions I'm doing, I'm still trying to figure out all the photo options on this site.

Yeah, I'm definitely a member of the hated minority in Hawaii (Atheist white male?), so I don't think I'll be there much longer.

Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film video

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:37pm 0 Comments

There is a video of the Pope's 'exorcism' caught on film.  The man isn't demon possessed, there are likely no 'real' demons.  He's just delusional and doesn't want to accept personal responsiblity for his own behavior for his own dysfunctional life.

Do you support 'traditional' marriage, vot now ad

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:28pm 2 Comments

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"!  .

No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes.  'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands.  Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

War on Christmas in May

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/21/texas-merry-christmas-bill_n_3312786.html?utm_hp_ref=politics

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

My first funeral as an atheist

Posted by Two Cult Survivor on May 21, 2013 at 11:30am 0 Comments

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.

I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).

THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…
